INSIGHTS
MAY 2012
Dear Friend:
A glance at the month’s calendar on this site will show you that we are heading towards some really amazing events. The powerful externalization cycle that began on April 29th continues through the 17th of June, and when I say “powerful”, I mean POWERFUL! This is an incredible intensification – it can lift you into ecstasy, bringing accomplishment and opportunity…. or it can plunge you into the depths of despair, appearing to destroy all that you’ve worked to build and ending important relationships, depending upon the enrgy and attitude you bring to it. It’s so important in this time to remember that life is fulfilling our needs and the experiences that we may call tragic today will be recognized as blessings in the future. Our experience of this time (and of all times) is totally created and controlled by the attitude we bring to the event and to our lives in general.
I’m not going to tell you that this will be an easy time – it certainly won’t be easy, because most people are going to be terrified, and fear is almost always expressed as anger. So every newscast is going to depict images of disputes, battles, riots, universal unrest. All of this is born out of mankind’s fear of change. And oh my gosh, how the world IS changing in this time!
I have said over and over again during the past several years that hidden things will be revealed, and in this time, they certainly are being revealed every day in our personal lives and in the world at large. We will discover that revered Spiritual and political leaders have not been living lives that represent their positions and that reveal their hidden agendas. This is happening also in our personal lives. We are discovering that people we have trusted have lied to or betrayed us, that they have kept secrets that will in many cases cause heartbreak. And we also will be called to accountability. our secrets will be revealed. No one is exempt. The Veil is lifting.
Yes, there is heartbreak in this time, but at the same time we also are becoming aware of strengths and beauty and valor where we would have least expected it. We are being shown evidence of Spirit at work in this world in amazing ways as the Veil lifts and we become more and more unified with dimensions of being that exist beyond what has been our awareness for perhaps thousands of years. Every day, we are knowing more, we are experiencing revelations ‐ and God (by whatever name you wish to call Him/Her/It) makes himself more evident to us.
We’ll be feeling a lot of frustration as people refuse to be cooperative, demand outrageous fees for jobs not well done, etc., etc. ‐ there are a thousand ways I could describe the effects of the energy of this time. But the effect of this energy that will have the greatest impact on us is that it will open our eyes to other people’s intentions and attitudes regarding us, and it will make us aware of our own attitudes and behaviors in which we are living or failing to live in integrity. Many of us will experience heartbreak as we realize that we’ve been allowing ourselves to be used or dishonored, and we will continue to feel devastated until we realize that we created the situation, that we permitted the dishonoring, the using. This is a time of testing, and the greatest of our tests are being given to us through those people whom we love the most.
The one good thing about this time is that all things are happening rapidly, that nothing lasts very long, that today’s pain is tomorrow’s jo or that today’s joy may be tomorrow’s pain. It’s all happening so fast. I have to keep reminding myself that as I meditate and pray each morning, I hear the voice of my Guidance (Samuel) saying, “It’s all in purpose. It all shall pass. The answer to every dilemma lies within the problem, and every storm brings new growth.”
This might sound like a lot of platitudes and simplistic statements given to ease our hearts during tremendous challenges and apparent tragedies but I must tell you that the truth is simple, that it is all very easy. It’s only difficult because we make it difficult. We’re always trying to figure out the puzzle. We take a simple, straight line that is what truth is, and we think it into knots and snarls because we believe that unless we can find and understand the complexities that we believe must exist within it and solve those complexities, that it can’t be real. But the real truth is just that – it is pure and plain and simple. It is as pure and innocent as the smile of a baby.
Life can be much easier and much more joy‐filled when we realize that all that is required of us is that we live each day immersed in the events of that day, striving to remain in integrity, treating each other with compassion and respect, and putting our focus and energy to the tasks required for accomplishment, for survival of ourselves and others in this dimension.
We all have tasks that are given to us. We all have things that we must do, and no task is more important than any other task. The man who takes our trash from the curb offers to this world as much as does the man who creates the laws, enforces the laws, teaches, heals... Every task is needed and is important and must be valued. When we devalue ourselves or any other person based on what they do or how they look or what they believe, we then diminish ourselves tenfold for in doing so, we lose the joy of the realization of Spirit as it flows harmoniously through all things to insure that the needs of all people are met.
It is our responsibility to recognize and to value all people (including ourselves!). We must learn to value every person for whom they are and the offerings they bring into this world, for it is in the recognition that we give to the realization that we are all of value, and it is through valuing each other that we ultimately shall bring this world to peace and harmony. As long as we continue to believe that any person lacks value because we believe that their job title gives them more or less status, that the color of their skin or how they dress adds or detracts from their value as human beings, that their Spiritual or political beliefs or values differ from ours so that we must deem them to be unacceptable to us because our “faction” requires us to believe that they would be considered to be stupid, be ignorant, or even evil, then it will be impossible for us to accomplish world harmony, world unity, or even harmony within our families or personal relationships. Those kinds of beliefs doom us to separation and to ever‐ increasing conflict to the extent that eventually it must change or end. These beliefs, if they cannot be changed, must end in the annihilation of civilization as we know it, for this civilization is building itself upon foundations of hatred and separation, and there is no way for it to survive as it is presently directing itself.
If we fail to recognize the value of any other person, we fail to recognize our own value, for in Spirit, they are us, and we are them. And as we know that and as we come together in the realization of the oneness and the unification of all mankind, then and only then can we be all that we are in Spirit and live in the joy that we experience occasionally during prayer or during moments of great importance (such as the moment our child is born, the moment we share our first kiss with the person that Spirit has sent to share our lives, the moment we reunite with someone from whom we’ve been emotionally or physically separated).
These experiences are equal to or similar to the emotions we feel when we realize that we are Spiritual beings who have come to this dimension with a purpose, a “calling”, and we recognize and know the presence of that which we call God in our lives. Those moments fill us with great emotion that is a combination of all that we are capable of experiencing in this place ‐ the pain of the realization that we have been assigned responsibilities that we fear we may lack the strength or the wisdom or the courage to fulfill, and the incredible ecstasy that we experience when we come to realize that God holds trust in us and calls us to accomplish tasks far beyond our own realizations of who we are and what our capabilities might be. In that moment that we fill “the call”, we are compelled to fulfill that intent and to earn/deserve that trust. The experience of being “called” and agreeing to honor our calling brings to us joy beyond description. We only fail to experience this joy when we forget that we have been called, when we forget our commitment, and when we forget that we have agreed to work in partnership and harmony with Spirit and we return to the belief that we are pitiful, weak creatures sent to this place to live lives that hold no meaning and for which we have no knowledge, talent, nor power to accomplish.
These times call us to the best of ourselves and reveal what we believe to be the worst of ourselves. What most of us call the “worst of ourselves”, I would describe as the parts of ourselves that are unfinished, that are undernourished, that need love, attention and often that need to be exercised, touched, caressed, and called to purpose, for they have withered away ‐ they have atrophied – from lack of validation and from lack of belief in their existence of their purpose to the extent that we have separated ourselves from our Soul’s intent, from each other, and from the very essence of Spirit that urges us toward the accomplishment of our intent and convinces us that we lack the knowledge, the talent, whatever it is that we must have to accomplish that which Spirit calls us to.
Spirit never turns away from us – we turn away from Spirit. Those parts of our being we try to hide and for which we feel shame when we admit that they exist. All we need to do is to bring them out into the light, recognize them, validate them, and love them and ask Spirit to aid us in letting go.
We need to love each other. That is the most important thing that we are here to do in this time and place, and in order to love each other, we must first recognize that all life has value, including our own. There is a saying that became popular in the 1960’s that was something like “You can only love others when you have learned to love yourself.” This saying isn’t true. The truth is that we only see ourselves as we are reflected in the eyes of others, so we only love and respect ourselves when we feel and see love and respect for us shining through the eyes of others.
So it’s really quite simple: we just need to live our lives minute by minute, doing and being whatever might offer value and respect to others and to ourselves. That’s all that is needed, and then it happens automatically that Spirit flows through us into any situation that life brings to us and fills us with the knowing of all that we must do or be to offer the best of ourselves to that experience.
It is really, really a wonderful thing when we can say to another person, “I see you. I see who you are. I see the pain in you. I see the behavior, the attitude that you portray that is the result of this pain. I know that you don’t like yourself when you behave in such a manner. I know that you don’t like yourself when you put forth such an attitude, and I know that that attitude and that behavior come from such pain that I wish you would allow me to offer whatever caring I might be able to give that would ease you so that you can stop feeling so filled with shame, for it is the shame that is in you that causes the behavior that pushes away others and leaves you feeling so alone in a world full of people. I also see the beauty and the love in you that you withhold, that you’re afraid to share with others because you fear their rejection. I want you to be able to know yourself and others, and to know the depth and quality of love that is available to you as you recognize the value of others and yourself so that you can offer yourself fully to the work that Spirit has called you to.”
Very often – in fact, most often – that work may simply mean a person might enter your life in that day who needs a smile or a kind word, and Spirit will place them in your path so that you can show them the value of their beings, and in doing so, you will come to recognize the value of your own being.
All that is in this time is bringing us to experiences that require us to recognize the value of every other being in this world, and to come together in unity, in harmony – not only to survive, but to thrive and grow in every part of our beings. The world is in chaos. We are experiencing upheaval in every possible way that it can be experienced, and that upheaval will continue to build and to grow more and more intense so that experiences will happen that we could not possibly believe could happen even a few years ago. But now we’re not so surprised as amazing changes take place in this world, as organizations, countries, relationships of all sorts fall. They fall if they are not built upon truth and if they hold within them a belief that separates them from others.
The only thing that can stand strong and remain strong in this time and place is truth, recognition, acceptance, and harmony with all that exists. As long as there is any belief that we would benefit in any way by destroying another, or that another has less value because they look, think, act, or believe differently then this world will continue to be in chaos. As soon as those attitudes and beliefs leave us, our world will become one that is filled with the most glorious harmony that you can imagine. I’ve seen it. I’ve felt it. I’ve been there. I know what it’s like, and I know that all that we are experiencing in this time is worthwhile, because it is taking us to a place, to an experience of great wonder of living in conscious partnership and relationship with each other and with Spirit.
Stay Focused on the Light....
